Spotlight on Constantinos Coursaris

Constantinos joined the TISM faculty in August of 2005, coming all the way from Athens, Greece, and after spending a few years in Canada. Since arriving at MSU, Constantinos has been busy with research in various aspects of Human Computer Interaction, a program that emerges out of his dual appointment with the Usability and Accessibility Center. The latest and current funded research involves a longitudinal study that investigates the usability and accessibility of a USDA website on nutrition and physical activity education for blind and low-vision users, and its potential for empowering these individuals in eating healthier and engaging in a more active lifestyle. Constantinos developed a study abroad program in Japan with a focus on Technology and Culture: Communication and Games. With its fourth installment coming up in May 2009, students are given the opportunity to visit and learn from related leading companies, such as NTT DoCoMo and Square-Enix, but to also be immersed in the Japanese culture by visiting a number of cities and historic cultural sites. Constantinos is also the Faculty Advisor for TISM’s undergraduate student association, ASCOT.
